Rock - Music Video Questionnaire Results

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B3V59ZY

I asked both males and females to take part in my questionnaire. Overall it was a 50/50 split, both
Males and Females enjoy listening to Rock music. Before Rock music would have been stereotypically listened to by a mainly male audience. but in more recent years rock music is listened to by a strong female audience too.

Out of the age groups I asked to take part in my questionnaire 16 year olds and people aged 40+ listened to Rock music the most, younger people tend to listen to more modern 'fashionable'  forms of rock 'Emo, Heavy metal, Screamo' where as older generations will tend to listen to classic rock and heavy metal.

Out of the group of people I asked for my questionarie just over half prefer listening to Classic rock and Brit-pop, Comparing the sub-genre and the age it is surpirising to see these results as the majority of people I asked were 16-18, stereotypically you'd expect to see an older generation of people listening to Classic and Brit-pop. This shows us that peoples tastes in music are becoming wider and people are becoming more accepting of different music genres.

Out of the people I asked the majority preferred a music video with a good story line and narrative, this isn't the 'norm' for rock music videos as the majority are performance based but there are a few band that have made narrative rock misc videos more known, My Chemical Romance The Black Parade is a very theratrical almost movie like music video, the same goes for Green Day Jesus Of Suburbia.

Over half of the people I asked said they preferred realism in a rock music video, this suggests that people enjoy being able to link with and relate to the story or situation.

*Lyrics

The majority of the people I asked said they prefer the music video to match the lyrics this could be because people like to pick up the true emotion of the song and allows them to connect to the song better.

  1. Clear explanation of questionnaire results. Remember to link these back to your own research. What decisions have you made, based on your findings?
